At the Digital Solutions for Societal Challenges Hackathon (#WTZHackathon) interdisciplinary teams work on concepts for (participatory) digital solutions to current societal challenges. This years‘ hackathon focuses on the topics environment and mobility. Students and early career researchers from all disciplines can apply, either as a team or as individuals. Programming skills are welcome, but are not essential for participation..

Einladung WTZ Hackathon 2021

Why a participatory approach?
We believe that a good way to meet Societal Challenges is to empower society with scientific knowledge and guide them towards necessary solutions in the data and research-driven manner.

How can I contribute?
We are inviting interested students and early career researchers of all disciplines to sign up. Whether you are a technical person or your passion lies in the field of political action and governing, social interactions and many more – this is your chance to make a change! Come to the Hackathon and put your skills and ideas into practice.

What is the format?
We will host the Hackathon 13 15 September 2021 for a maximum of 30 people. You may come with your own team or be matched with other participants to tackle the Sustainable Development Goals. You will be advised by researchers, people from the industry, technical experts, and policymakers. The whole Hackathon will be free of charge and food and drinks are on us.

What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is usually a day-long (can be 36 hours, 48 hours, etc.) coding competition, where software programmers, developers, designers, etc. come together to build and design something cool.
